Get involved!

Donate. Participate. Spread the word!

The People of Ulithi Atoll and the Outer Islands are warm and friendly, and welcome visitors to their community.  There are several ways you can get involved:

  • Donate to the Project

You can give tax deductible donations to the project via a University of California account by filling out this form.

  • How your funds help!

Your funds will contribute to an effort to enhance conservation, sustainability, and livelihoods across a vast area of the Western Pacific ocean. The Outer Islands of Yap, Micronesia autonomously govern over 100,000 square miles of ocean in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.  This is an unprecedented opportunity for communities and scientists to work together to protect oceans, people, and culture.  You can help make a difference. • Participate!

We invite interested people to participate in the project.  We have set up our field work to be able to accommodate volunteers who are interested in working with us or visiting the site.  There are comfortable accommodations on one of the islands (Falalop), despite the remote location.

Be a part of an exciting opportunity to advance marine conservation across a vast stretch of the Pacific – and connect with the inspiring local people who are making it happen.

  • Another highlight from our summer – One People One Reef hosted a community screening of Island Soldier Movie on Falalop, Ulithi. We watched Nathan Fitch’s moving documentary outside the church, underneath the stars, during our 2019 Youth Project. The film is especially relevant to Ulithian youth, for whom US military service can be an attractive opportunity, which they must weigh against leaving the atoll for study opportunities, or remaining and living a more traditional lifestyle.
  • One of several Montipora survey teams from the Ulithi Youth Action Program this summer. 💪 The students first learn about the study, train using the field methods, then go out and collect real data to be analyzed! 📈 In the process, they learn more about the reef, marine science, new skills, and get to form friendships between with other students from different backgrounds and cultures. 👩🏾‍🔬👨🏾‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬
